The sun is shinning and I am ready for summer! Bring on the golden hour and the lavender field sessions that fill my calendar up over the summer months.
This summer I am excited to be back at Laveanne Lavender Fields for the third summer. Both of these venues are so special in their own way and each offer something unique but the thing they both have in common is the beautiful rows of lavender as your photography session backdrop.
Planning your outfits is key to getting the most out of your photos, as it is in any photography session. Trust me when I tell you that it doesn’t have to be a hard or stressful task. I always say start with one outfit and build from there. Usually it is the lady of the house booking and planning the session so of course she should wear her favourite outfit.
Once the main outfit is picked out we turn to colour pallets. The great thing about choosing a colour pallet is that all the work has been done for you, pick 2-3 colours for your family to wear. For lavender photography session you can choose to either wear subtle colours or strong striking colours. Subtle colours includes most pastel shades but in particular, creams, pale pinks, khaki, light yellow, chambrays and blues. Strong bold colours include deep pinks, rich purples or yellow (the complimentary colour of purple).
Little accents of colour can also be added with hairbands, hats and accessories. Like any wardrobe and photography session you want to coordinated, but not be matching each other and ensure a variety of textures; think romantic flowy dresses & lace kimonos.
Outfits to avoid for your lavender sessions: Black, bright white, logos and everyone wearing the same pattern.
